Vertical Steel at SouthPark

This week, we got a text message from our project manager for the Here, Near, & Far building project at New City SouthPark. It read:
Pretty exciting sight at South Park today — first steel is going vertical! A lot of work has gone into getting us to this point, and it’s fun to finally see the building beginning to take shape. 🙌
He included a photo of two steel beams pointing into the air.

The moment was a visible reminder of the weeks of work that have gone into construction so far, as the demolition finished and the site was prepared for the new building. Since the end of June 2026, the construction team has been hard at work completing the grading of the building site; excavating, reinforcing, and pouring new building footings; preparing for the building's fire suppression system; pouring concrete for interior ramps to allow accessibility to the whole building; and then, finally, erecting steel and setting the joists.

In the next six weeks, we will begin to see demo in the parking lot and pipes laid for new stormwater systems; fire, water, and sanitary lines will be run; and the building's frame will continue to go up with steel beams, joists, and decking. We're not far away from concrete walls being poured and the interior plumbing and electrical systems being started underground.
