The contracts are signed, and construction is beginning atNew City SouthPark! Starting this week, workers will begin the renovation of the wings of the current Worship Center building into NextGen space.

This is just the first phase of several that will reshape New City SouthPark into a space that can accommodate the continuing growth we are seeing and allow our congregation to invite friends and neighbors to find and follow Jesus.

In Phase 1, the wings of the current Worship Center, which have housed overflow worship space, classrooms, and offices, will be renovated into new spaces for our Kids and Students. You can see an overview of all the phases here.

This past Sunday, SouthPark Congregation Pastor Nic Schrieber noted, “As many of us have done different home renovation projects, even though you’re really excited about them and you know why we’re doing them, they do bring a level of disruption and they do require flexibility and patience.”

This renovation will include updates to the exterior of the building and will require a construction fence. In addition to the fence(outlined in red in the image below), the West Lobby (facing Colony Road) will be closed—please enter the Worship Center through the main doors in theCourtyard. The East Lobby (facing Carmel Park) will be open, but temporary walls will go up, and there will not be seating anymore. Overflow seating for services is available in W-8, just off the main lobby.

During the week, the Colony Road entrance to the parking lot will be a construction entrance. If you visit our SouthPark location Monday throughSaturday, please use the Carmel Road entrance. Sunday traffic patterns and parking will be fairly unchanged, but please do follow posted signs and directions from our Parking Team, and remember to drive slowly and carefully as families are walking through the parking lot to enter the building.

We are excited to see this project get underway and can’t wait to see the ways people find and follow Jesus in this space both during the phases of construction and in the future!
